When should desktop or high-throughput fiber diameter equipment be used?

The desktop platform handles individual slides; the high-throughput platform supports batch magazines and cyclic loading. The reviewed glass-fiber models take approximately five and three minutes respectively from scan start to report, excluding preparation and slide loading. Timing varies with scan settings.

Models and typical timing

For glass fiber, TW-H-20X-N-GF-D-01 takes approximately three minutes and TW-D-20X-N-GF-D-01 approximately five minutes. The interval runs from scan start to report output; preparation and loading are separate.

Loading capacity is not simultaneous throughput

The high-throughput platform holds 30 slides per magazine and up to eight magazines, with cyclic replenishment. Desktop equipment handles one slide at a time. Capacity does not mean the entire loaded batch finishes in three minutes or directly establish daily output.

Counts and quick scans

Tasks with ≥10,000 fibers require suitable dispersion without stacking and appropriate fiber lengths. Quick scans reduce the imaged region, count, and time. Use the actual effective count in each report.

Decide from routine workload

Record daily samples, preparation, loading, review time, and storage requirements. Compare complete workflows and confirm utilization, training, and batch scheduling.

Magazine replenishment and single-slide work

The high-throughput platform automatically locates, retrieves, scans, and returns slides in magazines. Continued magazine replenishment supports ongoing batch tasks; current desktop material specifies one slide per run. Thirty slides per magazine and eight loaded magazines describe capacity, not a daily limit. Daily throughput also depends on inspection tasks, operating hours, and preparation.
