Hangzhou Tanwei Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. (“Tanvint”) recently launched the TW-H-40X-N-MW-D-01, a new automated diameter inspection model for wool-like reinforcing fibers. It measures the diameter and distribution of ultrafine glass fibers, fiber wool, mineral wool and similar samples. The model can measure up to 10000 fibers in a single inspection, takes approximately 5 minutes per sample, and supports unattended operation 7×24 hours.
Addressing sampling and recognition challenges in fiber wool
Unlike continuous glass fiber filaments, fibers in fiber wool and mineral wool samples are short, prone to clumping, and often mixed with shot particles and impurities. Manual microscopy is time-consuming, and the representativeness of spot-check results can be difficult to ensure. The TW-H-40X-N-MW-D-01 combines 400× physical optical magnification with 2000× digital magnification, a scanning resolution of ≤0.17 μm/pixel and a software calculation precision of 0.01 μm (not the measurement error of the complete instrument). Its diameter measurement range is 1~6 μm. It automatically identifies and excludes shot particles, impurities and other non-target components to prevent abnormal objects from contaminating statistical results.
Throughput and data retention for production-line quality inspection
For batch inspection, the model supports repeated loading and unloading, with at least 30 samples per loading cycle and a maximum loading capacity of at least 240 samples. Its scanning speed is ≤3.5 cm²/min, accommodating continuous sample delivery from production lines. The equipment can retain 100000 historical reports and 5000 digital slides. Original scan images can be retrieved for review, supporting traceability requirements for customer factory audits and industry sampling inspections. Inspection reports can be generated in Chinese and English.
Responding to the implementation of GB/T 47086-2026
GB/T 47086-2026, “Determination of diameter and its distribution of reinforcing fibers and microfiber wool—Digital optical scanner method,” took effect on August 1, 2026, extending the inspection focus from an average value to diameter and its distribution. The whole-slide scanning and ten-thousand-fiber statistical capabilities of the TW-H-40X-N-MW-D-01 address inspection needs arising from this change in method.
Demonstration-unit testing is now available. Tanvint welcomes relevant companies to bring actual samples to Hangzhou for comparative verification and to assess equipment suitability using real sample data.
